How To: Cinnamon, Bacon Donut Bites

Hi Nibblers!

Father’s Day is around the corner and I have the perfect recipe for you to make! Great for any time of day whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner. They’re also slightly healthier than their fried counterpart and just as delicious. Crunchy on the outside, soft and warm in the middle with a dash of cinnamon and sugar and topped off with the saltiness of bacon. It’s a combination you just can’t get enough of. And better yet, super easy to make and easily customised with any topping of your choice.

2. In a microwave heatproof bowl, heat milk until warm approximately 40 seconds then stir in butter until melted
3. Stir in yeast into butter/milk mixture and leave aside for 5 minutes
4. Pour liquid mixture in the well made in the dry ingredients from earlier before and mix until it becomes a nice dough
5. Place on a lightly dusted surface and knead for 10 minutes until elastic and smooth
6. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl with a damp cloth to cover and place in a warm spot for an hour or until doubled in size
7. Remove dough from bowl and firmly punch dough to remove air then knead on a lightly dusted surface for a further 30 minutes
8. Line baking trays with baking paper
9. Taking approximately a heaped tablespoon, roll dough into even round balls then place on lined baking tin about 5 cm apart
10. Cover donut balls with cloth again for a further 30 minutes to proof
11. Pre-heat oven to 160 degrees Celsius / 320 degrees Fahrenheit
12. Take a pinch of lightly fried bacon bits and lightly press into each donut ball
13. Place donut bites into oven for approximately 20 minutes
14. Roughly pour golden syrup over donut balls
15. Leave to cool for a few minutes before consuming!

I really shouldn’t have made these bite size. They’re out the door pretty quickly and I can’t stop myself. They’re just so good it’s ba-con my heart. And yes, I just made an awful pun but with it almost being Father’s Day, why not? That’s what Dads do! Hope you’re all having an amazing week and spoil Dad this Sunday the 4th of September. But, it it’s not you thing don’t worry – this will earn you brownie points with anyone you want to impress  😉
